For many years I have been searching for the ideal way to paint. Through years of printing experience I was intrigued with the four color process. Ever so slowly I developed the layering technique that I use now. Instead of the yellow, magenta, and cyan used in commercial printing I am using true yellow, red, and blue to achieve my works. A printer will also change the order or the printing sequence to achieve a different effect. Therefore by layering in random sequences the surface of the painting builds itself. A blue over a yellow will appear differently than a yellow over a blue. I found that the paintings were actually creating themselves. I would only decide when to stop, but because I was not mixing paint I always had to wait until my desired color came up. The paintings became very interactive and due to this "action" I decided how to title them. Choosing verbs as titles is a small reflection of what I was thinking during the process. However, it primarily allows the viewer to have their own experience with the paintings without too much influence from me.
